Just when I thought it couldn't possibly snow any more - it did.
I took this photograph at 10am today of the road which passes the end of our drive, which can be seen on the right at the far end before the lane . Nothing had been along it and the snow in the centre of the road was eight to 12 inches deep. No work, no school, no where!
This drift is across the corner of the green lane bridlepath which goes up through our land. The picture just cannot do justice to the size and scale and it's quite breathtakingly beautiful in a white, sculptural way.
The lane normally looks like a lush green tunnel. Not today!
Another drift, this time by the little gate onto the hay fields. Only a fox had walked along it before me. I wonder what he made of all this snow when he got up this morning.
Stunning pictures Mags and in complete contrat to the ones I took in Cornwall today - sunshine and green leaves. Yours does look very beautiful though I imagine you are getting a little tired of it? Hope you are keeping warm xx

ReplyDeleteHow often do we get real snow in Pembrokeshire? Yesterday my kitchen and bathroom were scheduled to arrive but the van got stuck - sod's law!
ReplyDeleteGosh, you had that extra snow a LOT worse than we did. We just had about another 2" or 3". A very slow thaw here - have freezing fog not helping matters - but we managed to get out for some binge-shopping today and to stock up on another sack each of peanuts and wild bird food. Keep warm!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful snow you have where you live! We had a good strong snow sometime near the end of last year ... see how blase we quickly become here in New York ... but it passed through the melt, slush, gone transformation way too quickly.
ReplyDeleteI have really loved reading many posts from UK folks about being snow bound. Halfway through January, and hanging on to the notion of the Happy New Year by a finger or two, how I would love to be completely snowbound, with a full alibi attached, for ... oh, three or four days would be a start.
Being able to get on with it, no matter what the weather, is highly over-rated.
And then I read and see the news reports from Haiti, and just stuff those prior wishes back to the their origin. The need for peace. Micro, macro.

Goodness, that's some serious snow. We had around the same amount at my Mum's in Cumbria over Christmas. It was up to 18 inches in places. It really is beautiful x
ReplyDeleteOh Good heavens I was meant to check on you ages ago - I do hope you managed to get out after all! The snow does look pretty but after a while it can become quite annoying...
