Let's go fly a kite...

With tuppence for paper and strings
You can have your own set of wings
With your feet on the ground
You're a bird in a flight
With your fist holding tight
To the string of your kite

The sun popped out yesterday so we went to the beach. As did everyone else! (I blame the Observer for calling this beach "the new Rock".) It was lovely though.

  1. Doesn't look that crowded to me.

I thought comedy was the new rock?

  2. Newport beach - fabulous.

My car once immobilised itslef on the sands here - just as the tide was coming in. We were dragged off in time by a 4X4.

  3. Beautiful wide open sky, just made to take a kite aloft. Think that I saw another about ready for take off on the beach in your photo.

You are showing us what summer could be ... if we are truly lucky. xo

  4. I could cry....you have SUN!!!! It has done nothing but pour down here. Sighs deeply, but hopeful today will be different (ha, as I type it is drizzling away). Wish you and ChrisH were closer as it would be so fun to do our own holiday jar of treats (mostly involving alcohol and brownies methinks!!!)> Glad the ships sailing game is proving successful and would love a piccy of the shells the girls collect xx

  5. Dan - Believe me that is very crowded for Newport Beach. Last September 1st we had the entire beach to ourselves and the weather was better too.

Mark - I bought a 4x4 to guard against such mishaps. Visits to the beach are now accompanied by 4x4 smugness.

Frances - We had three kites in all. It was lovely.

Pipany - It was just one day, but we've learned to pounce on every beam of sunshine and make the most of it. Brownies and alcohol? Most definitely!

  6. Aw, great picture. But I agree with you about the 'crowds' this year. We popped down to Fishguard last week and it was heaving!

  8. Newport and the Parrog, so picturesque at any time, but all the better for the sun coming out. Crowds in summer is why I seldom go to the beach, actually prefer the solitude of a wild winter beach! Loved your opening, now that is all I am singing (in my head not out loud)
