This weeks' theme at
Sticky Fingers: The Gallery is seasons. Autumn conjures up images of mighty trees with golden leaves - but it's not like that here on the Preseli Hills. Here trees are stunted because of the salty winds and as soon as the leaves start to turn we usually have a winter storm to blast them off the branches.
What we have today is the calm before the storm. A still day with a crisp frost first thing and the benign smile of the sun in the afternoon. The weatherman says the isobars are clustering tightly in the Atlantic and we're to hold onto our hats tomorrow. Today though the skies are blue.
Love this photo - makes me want to walk through the gate and off up the field.
ReplyDeleteYes, we've done lots of walking and river swimming (well, one of us has swum!) today, anticipating that tomorrow the weatherproof labrador may not be as persuasive as usual....

ReplyDeleteThe isobars were tight-packed, and the barometer almost as low as I have seen it, but strangely, we did not suffer wind-damage as we would have expected.
ReplyDeleteAnd how your writing as blossomed in the last few months - is it the running? Do you write in your mind as you pace the lanes? Words flood my head whenever I cook supper, and we have far too many burned offerings. I love reading your posts; a breath of fresh air blowing through an old woman's heart (or maybe it should be into her lungs!)
That's a lovely picture, the sky is just so blue! Really makes the tree and the gate stand out.
